Real Wedding - Alexa & Colby

Words can't express how excited we are to share Alexa & Colby's wedding on our blog. Alexa not only has an incredible eye for event design she is also an incredible potter, making hand crafted pieces in her home studio. Her pottery talents can be seen throughout her wedding, including the most adorable seating chart we have ever seen. She even handcrafted a special piece for each one of her wedding guests. We loved getting to know this fun loving couple so much and were so honoured to have been their wedding venue.

Their Story: Our meeting story is actually kind of crazy. I (Alexa) was born in Saskatoon and Colby in Regina, both of our families moved to Red deer in 2001 and we both started going to the same school! He was a grade above me. We had mutual friends but never actually spoke for those ten years. Then the summer before my grade 11 and his grade 12 our mutual friend invited us to a party where we officially met and started dating a couple weeks later. We went though long distance for a couple years of college and have been together ever since!

The Proposal: He proposed in December of 2018. We had been together for about 7.5 years. I was upset with him because he hadn't put up our Christmas lights yet and I am a total Christmas freak and we were halfway through December. My dad and I went on our annual hot chocolate and Christmas lights drive and when I got home our living room was covered in lights, the fireplace channel was on, vinyl Christmas music was playing and he was all dressed up! He proposed and I said yes!

Most Memorable Moment: We had decided to secretly elope before Covid actually happened, then we had to postpone our wedding for a year so by the time the day came we had actually been married for over two years! So finally being able to see family, hear our loved ones speeches was definitely the most memorable part of the day since we had been waiting so long for it! I think personally though mine will always be the Mamma Mia dance my mom and little brother did, I was blown away and it was probably one of the best moments I've ever had!

Hilltop Experience: Hilltop was fantastic! We felt confident with Hilltop the moment we toured the place, which helped take so much stress and pressure off, especially after dealing with so much uncertainty from the pandemic and our previous venue. Everyone was so helpful and nice, the place was absolutely beautiful. I am actually so thankful we had to cancel our first wedding because I got everything I wanted in our special day because of it!
